At The Brick Oven Pizzeria & Restaurant, we’re known for our versatile pizza offerings that allow customers to completely customize their pies in a myriad of ways. Over the years, visitors and locals alike have come to our restaurant after being intrigued by our brick oven cooking method, and the versatility of our crusts, sizes, and toppings. Yes, it’s true, we are at our core a pizza place, and proud of it. But in the pursuit of becoming one of the top restaurants in Clemmons, we decided to elevate our menus and offer even more to our customers. We figured the best way to do this was by picking dishes that pair well with pizza.
Our menu began by focusing on pizza, an Italian classic that came to the United States via its eastern coast. Unsurprisingly, pizza is beloved in nearly every city, state, and region in the U.S., making it universally popular across the board. While some pizzerias focus solely on serving pizza, with maybe a few other side dishes like salads and breadsticks as accompaniments, somewhere along the line foods like pasta, sandwiches, chicken wings, stromboli, and calzones, started making their way into pizza parlors. Today, where you find pizza in Clemmons and other cities in North Carolina, you are likely to find a wide variety of other foods.
While some of these foods seem to pair naturally with pizza, others may feel a bit random by comparison. Take, for example, chicken wings. Chicken wings and pizza often go hand in hand, but where did this paring originate from? While several national pizzas chains started successfully selling chicken wings at the turn of the century, the marriage of pizza and wings can be traced back to east coast pizzerias, specifically, New York. In fact, interestingly enough, back in the 1970s when this killer combination debuted, chicken wings were actually seen as an undesirable part of the chicken, usually discarded in bulk. However, this combo quickly took off- and today pizza and wings can be found on pizzeria menus across the country, including ours right here at our brick oven pizza place.
Exploring the Other Offerings of Our Diverse Menu & Pairing Them with Pizza
At The Brick Oven Pizzeria, we knew from the start that pizza was going to be at the heart of what we offer. However, in order to establish and maintain our position as the area’s finest pizza joint, we knew that we also wanted to focus on bringing in other fan favorites. While our menu is diverse, and maybe even a bit overwhelming (in the best way possible) we wanted our patrons to have free range to dip their toes into a wide variety of choices. At the same time, we wanted to choose foods that we knew we could do justice to and would make sense in an Italian restaurant. Here are some highlights of the diverse food that we cook up every day, and how it pairs perfectly with our pizza.
Stromboli and Calzones
And Much, Much More
When you look at our diverse menu of salads, pasta, specialty dishes, and more, it’s easy to see why we incorporated many of these different options into our menus. At The Brick Oven Pizzeria, our main goal is to provide you food that makes you excited for that gameday gathering. Or has you eagerly ordering ahead to make sure you get your pizzas right on time for your weekly Friday night takeout. And hey, if up until now you’ve only tried our pizza, we urge you to explore some other items on the menu. We promise they go well with brick oven pizza, and you won’t be disappointed!
